Biography
A member of the Ferench family of musicians, Louis Emmanuel was a pianist, composer and conductor. From 1789 he was a successful accompaniest for the Theatre de Monsieur becoming the professor of piano at the Paris Conservatoire in 1802, having taught scale and arpeggiated techniques. He succeeded his younger brother Hyacinthe in this position. Louis also became the conductor of the Theatre Moliere and master of the pages (1814-1830) at the Royal Chapel. Installed as a memebr of the Legion d'Honneur, Jadin had composed marches and works for the National Guard as well as over forty operas and operettas. He was also one of the first composers to write for two pianos. "La mort de Werther" was a song composed by Jadin based on Goethe's melancholy hero and illustrated his ability at individual expression through expressive music. The French song was one of Jadin's more exploitative genres. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
