Biography
Jensen McRae is an American singer, songwriter, and poet who pairs smartly constructed alternative folk-pop with socially and politically conscious lyrics. After releasing a pair of acclaimed singles in 2019, "White Boys" and "Wolves," McRae went viral with the pandemic-themed single "Immune," which was written in the style of Phoebe Bridgers. All three songs were compiled on her 2021 EP Who Hurt You?, which also included the buoyant and empowering "Starting to Get to You. Her debut long-player, Are You Happy Now?, arrived the following year.

Born in Santa Monica and raised in Los Angeles, McRae cites Carole King, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, and Alicia Keys as early influences. She released a pair of EPs (Lighter in 2017 and Milkshakes in 2018) while attending USC Thornton School of Music on a full-ride scholarship. After graduating, she issued the singles "White Boy" and "Wolves," which became streaming hits, and in 2021 she went viral with the all-in-good-fun, Phoebe Bridgers-inspired single "Immune," which elicited praise from Bridgers herself. Later that year McRae released the stirring single "Starting to Get to You," which appeared on the EP Who Hurt You? In 2022 she issued her first full-length effort, Are You Happy Now? ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
