When her first single hit she was only 17 and just graduating from cosmetology school. She considered sticking with braiding and cutting hair for a little bit, but Jamaican radio couldn't get enough of the sassy and quick-witted Ms. Thing and she had no choice but to become a dancehall superstar. It was while performing at a Baby Cham album release party that Ms. Thing caught the eye of producer Dave Kelly. A couple of minor tracks were recorded for Kelly before the producer teamed the young singer with Beenie Man for the soon-to-be-massive Dude. The Get That Money and Regular singles followed and when they went Top 10 in Jamaica, Ms. Thing finally quit her day job.
