Biography
Vocalist Graham Skinner has been on the cutting-edge of Scotland's rock and pop music for more than two decades. A former member of the White Savages, Skinner formed his most successful group, Hipsway, with ex-Altered Images bass player Johnny McElhone, guitarist Pim Jones, and drummer Harry Travers, in 1984. Although their first two singles -- The Broken Years and Ask the Lord -- sold poorly, the group scored with their third single, Honey Thief, which reached the 17th slot on the British pop charts. Their self-titled debut album included the Top 20 hit Long White Car. Skinner and Hipsway failed to capitalize on their success, however, and shortly after their second album, Scratch the Surface, flopped, the group disbanded. Skinner and Jones later resurfaced in the punk-edged group, Witness. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
