Biography
As a child in Montreal, Joe Vannelli began to play music, eventually studying music theory for two years and taking six years of private piano tutoring. Influenced by the popular RB artists of the '60s and '70s, as well as jazz pianists such as Dave Brubeck, he became a professional musician. After he finished his training, he built his own studio and worked very hard in promoting the synthesizer as a valid instrument before it became the popular instrument of the late '70s/early '80s. His brother Gino Vannelli took a very similar route, although he released several albums, something that Joe has yet to do. Throughout his career, Joe has been nominated for several Grammy Awards and has won six Juno Awards for Best Production. Joe continues to produce albums and work on in-depth MIDI sequencing and programming, a passion which stems from his advocating of synthesizers years before. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
