Biography
Greeicy is the professional name of Colombian pop singer, songwriter, and actress Greeicy Rendon, whose sound melds cumbia, Latin pop, tropical, and urban styles. Her sultry, always supremely melodic alto adds dimension and warmth to even the grittiest urbano jams. The slick video for her charting 2018 non-album single "Más Fuerte" rang up over 266 million views on You Tube.

Rendon was born in Cali, Colombia, but at age five her parents relocated to Bogota. From the time she could speak she was interested in singing and dancing and studied both along with acting from starting in the first grade. She began competing in talent contests and festivals at ten, and at 15 was a contestant on the Colombian reality television El Factor Xs. Sponsored by singer and composer José Gaviria, she didn't win, but did well enough to secure herself a place in the station's central casting department. In 2009 she won her first substantial role in the telenovela Cuando Salga el Sol as the teen daughter of the protagonist couple. In 2010, she got a recurring role in Correo de Inocentes, where she remained for two years before joining the core cast of ¿Dónde Está Elisa? The following year, she took another recurring role in the series La Prepago, and starred in the Colombian teen telenovela Chica Vampiro, produced by RCN Television. In 2014, she procured co-starring roles in two more series: La Ronca de Oro and Los Años Maravillosos. In 2016, the year she began to think seriously of pursuing a career as a recording artist, she starred in Tiro de Gracia and followed with a stint in Las Vega's.

In 2017, Greeicy began branching out into music, releasing digital singles and videos. While her first three tracks -- "Brindemos," "Error," and "Despierta" -- registered only tangentially on the video streaming charts, her fourth, "Amantes," scored high enough to warrant a second salsa version with Mike Bahia and Victor Manuelle. The latter scored 13 million views, hit the top spot on the Mexican pop charts, and landed at number six at home in Colombia. By 2018, Greeicy was pursuing music full-time and signed to Universal. She graced magazine covers from Colombia to Puerto Rico to Mexico City. In February she broke through with her pop cumbia smash "Más Fuerte." In addition to the success of the video, she landed at number six on the Colombian pop charts and the Mexican list at five. She collaborated with the Rudeboyz on the reggaeton killer "No Te Equivoques" and with Feid on the romantic urban ballad "Perfecta," starring in its video. The track remained in the Colombian charts for more than 18 weeks, while the video scored more than 30 million views. While a Papá Kumbé remix of "No Te Equivoques" scored big on dancefloors across Latin America and Western Europe, it didn't chart commercially. That said, her next single, the tender, vulnerable urban love song "Ya Para Qué" hit the Top Ten of the streaming charts, while its video logged over 70 million views. Greeicy teamed with David Bisbal for the single "Perdon." Given that it was issued just before her hit collaboration with Anitta on the "Jacuzzi" single, the video for the title track garnered more than 35 million views during its first month of release. At the year's Heat Latin Music Awards, Greeicy was nominated for three awards, including best new artist, best female artist, and best collaboration for "Amantes" with Mike Bahia. ~ Thom Jurek, Rovi
