Biography
An impressive improviser, Jamie Baum's 1997 GM release Sight Unheard helped introduce her talents to a wider jazz audience. Baum earned a degree from the New England Conservatory of Music where she studied with Dave Liebman, Richie Beirach, Hubert Laws and Jaki Byard among others. Living in New York since the mid-1980's, she has performed with many top musicians including Paul Motian, Randy Brecker, George Russell, John Abercrombie, Kenny Werner, Fred Hersch, Tom Harrell, Kenny Barron and Dave Douglas. Her debut recording as a leader was Undercurrents (for the German Konnex label) and she also appeared on dates led by Ed Jackson and Dave Binney before leading her highly-rated GM CD. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
