James Robinson
from Campbell, CA
Biography
James Robinson is a versatile American guitarist with a sound rooted in instrumental improvisation and a textural palette that includes jazz, flamenco, classical, blues, rock, and country. Raised in a musical and multicultural household, Robinson gravitated toward piano before committing to the guitar at age 12. The San Francisco Bay Area native issued a pair of well-received independent releases in 1997 (Primary) and 2000 (Tumbling into the Sky) that showcased both his electric and steel string abilities. 2003's acclaimed Colours saw Robinson refine his flamenco-jazz improvisations, a discipline he would continue to follow on 2021's "Azul Sky." In 2022, he applied his genre-bending style to the works of Texas blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan on the EP Lonestar. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
