Biography
Vincent Chancey earned a respected place for himself in the world of jazz music with his remarkable ability on the French horn. He learned his polished skills while studying under Julius Watkins, but Chancey's talent and style are both inherent gifts.

During his long career, which began in the '70s, Chancey has performed with the famous Sun Ra Arkestra, Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, the David Murray Big Band, the Carla Bley Big Band, the Beaver Harris French Horn Connection, and the Richard Abrams Orchestra. Altogether, Chancey has appeared on somewhere over 70 recordings and toured with bands in the United States, Africa, and Europe.

In 1993, Chancey finally recorded an album of his own, Welcome Mr. Chancey, released under the In + Out Records label. The debut album carries jazz numbers flavored with RB and reggae soul, like A Night to Remember and Barefoot Bahian Girl. Welcome Mr. Chancey was re-released on CD in 1995. A second album, Next Mode, hit the store shelves in 1998. ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
