Best known as a YouTube personality with several channels and millions of followers, Jc Caylen made a dent in the music world during the mid-2010s when he compiled his favorite electronic tunes into a popular series of compilations titled Neptones. Born Justin Caylen Castillo in Houston, Texas in 1992, he was raised in San Antonio and legally changed his name to Justin Cloud Caylen. He started his first YouTube channel in September of 2010, and in 2012 he co-founded the popular YouTube collective Our2ndLife along with Ricky Dillon, Connor Franta, Kian Lawley, Sam Pottorff, and Trevor Moran. He moved to Los Angeles in 2013, but Our2ndLife decided to end their channel in 2014. Dillon began his singing career and Franta co-founded a label called Heard Well along with talent manager Andrew Graham and entrepreneur Jeremy Wineberg. The label released successful albums compiled by Franta and Anthony “Lohanthony” Quintal, but Caylen's Neptones -- containing downtempo, EDM, and electro-pop tracks by up-and-coming artists such as Jai Wolf and Illenium -- surpassed them, hitting number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums following its November 2015 release.
