Biography
Sara Leib emerged in the early 21st century as an inventive scat singer with a lot of potential.

She started out studying piano and experimenting with several instruments before deciding to become a singer. Leib picked up experience singing in a school jazz choir while singing along with records at home, emulating such horn soloists as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Benny Goodman, and Louis Armstrong. She sang with the Grammy High Schools National Jazz Ensemble, attended the Berklee School of Music during 1999-2001, and earned a bachelor of music degree from the New England Conservatory. Leib studied with Dominique Eade (who was a strong influence), Steve Lacy, and Jerry Bergonzi. After graduation, she toured Japan, performed with pianist Art Lande, and eventually settled in the Los Angeles area. In recent times, Leib has worked in the studios, taught music, written many new songs, toured South Africa and Guatemala, and recorded her debut CD, It's Not the Moon. Her main goal is to help popularize jazz within her generation. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
