Biography
Little-known Chicago guitarist L.C. McKinley was born October 22, 1918, in Winona, MS, but by 1941 he had shown up in the Windy City and was gigging regularly there at the end of the decade. A fine guitarist in the T-Bone Walker mold, McKinley spent the early '50s working with pianist Eddie Boyd and did sessions with many of Chicago's best blues players. He also cut a handful of rare and seldom encountered singles for the Parrot, States, Vee Jay, Bea Baby, and Sunnyland record labels, none of which established much of an audience for McKinley. He was out of the music business entirely when he died in Chicago on January 19, 1970. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
