Biography
A fiddle player, Selph started the Blue Ridge Playboys in 1936. The group played fine Western swing and fostered the careers of Moon Mullican, Floyd Tillman and Ted Daffan. Selph led a big band just after World War II and continued to be active in the Houston area up to his death. The Blue Ridge Playboys' version of Selph's tune Give Me My Dime Back has been widely anthologized and the song has made its way into the repertoire of modern groups such as the Hot Club of Cowtown. ~ Megan Lynch, Rovi
