Biography
A Massachusetts-born composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Daniel Dela Delacruz has been a key figure in the U.S. roots-reggae and punk-pop scene for decades, lending his considerable sax skills to a huge array of artists and projects. A prodigious sax player since middle school, Dela attended the Berklee College of Music on a scholarship, and later transferred to the jazz program at William Paterson University. Between 2001 and 2006, he lived and performed in New York City. During this time, he also toured with American reggae greats John Brown's Body. In 2006, he relocated to San Diego, where he joined up with globally touring roots supergroup Slightly Stoopid. He has performed with Cypress Hill, Sly Robbie, Don Carlos, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Marlon Asher, Ozomatl, and Collie Buddz, among others, and has been a prolific guest artist with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe since 2012. In 2015, he recorded his debut LP with co-producer Karl Denson and L.A.-based dirty reggae soul band the Aggrolites.
