A singer and rapper inspired by Tank, Usher, and Chris Brown, Luh Kel entered Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 2019 with the brokenhearted "Wrong," his breakout single. He issued his debut album, Mixed Emotions, later that year.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Luh Kel (aka Turran Coleman) started singing as a toddler. In his early teens, he joined ProjecX, a vocal group who performed across the country and recorded songs such as "Problems," released independently as a single in 2016. Kel soon began to develop as a solo artist and promoted himself on social media. An uploaded clip of "Wrong" quickly gained popularity on Instagram in early 2019 and reached another level when it became the subject of a dance challenge on TikTok. This led to a deal with Cinematic Music Group. By the end of that April, Kel had a hit to his credit when a commercially released version of "Wrong" registered on the Top 40 of the R&B/hip-hop chart. A second single, "BRB," was out within two months. Both tracks appeared on his official studio debut, Mixed Emotions.
