Producer Nick Calingaert is the creator of an appealing tech-house fusion that's perfectly in line with his Chicago recording base and Detroit releases. His first Common Factor production, the 1000 EP, appeared on Belgium's SSR in 1996. After being rejected by several British labels, he sent tapes to Detroit's Planet E Recordings. By mid-1998, Planet E head Carl Craig released Calingaert's In To single. The Expanded EP followed later that year, and in 1999 Planet E issued the debut Common Factor album, Dreams of Elsewhere. His follow-up single Pisces Groove appeared later in 1999. Calingaert also works with Chris Nazuka as Retroflex (the pair record for Scotland's Soma), and has remixed Chris Simmonds. ~ John Bush, Rovi
