Ginger Bianco was a founding member of Goldie the Gingerbreads, a pioneering all-female rock roll band of the mid-'60s. As a member of the band from 1964 through 1967, she played on one hit British single, Can't You Hear My Heartbeat, and cut records for Atlantic and England's Decca Records. During this period, Bianco piled up endorsements for her playing from the likes of Ringo Starr and other top British drummers of the day. After two years in England and Europe touring with the Rolling Stones, the Animals, the Hollies, the Kinks, and the Yardbirds, the band returned to America. Bianco left the Gingerbreads to form Isis, the first all-female horn band, who were signed to Buddah Records and created a minor splash in pop music during the '70s touring with ZZ Top, Three Dog Night, Leon Russell, the Beach Boys, Aerosmith, and Kiss. Isis also had the distinction of re-inaugurating concerts at New York's Beacon Theater (now a major concert venue, as any Allman Brothers fan will attest to) when it was restored at the end of the '70s.
