We Are Shining is a London-based electronic music project composed of Acayde and Morgan Zarate. The pair developed their sound of vocal-led beats from early on, and decided not to conform to any genre restraints. The duo's debut track, "Wheel," was released in 2013 and generally well received, so much so that they were requested to work with Eliza Doolittle. Collaboratively, they produced the pop-house single "Killing" and a left-field video to accompany it. We Are Shining once again collaborated for the single "Devileye," this time joining forces with alternative pop artist Roses Gabor. The group's debut release, Kara, arrived in 2014 on the Marathon Artists label, fusing old soul music with modern electronic. It also included guest spots from Shingai Shoniwa, Mallie, and ESKA. The track "Breaks" was co-written with British vocalist FKA Twigs. The duo were headhunted by American producer Kanye West; after he was impressed with the track "Hot Love," West invited We Are Shining to his Paris-based studio to hear more of the music they had been writing.
