Biography
Contemporary R&B singer and songwriter RaVaughn Brown became a busy background vocalist during the latter half of the 2000s, when she contributed to albums by the likes of Jessica Simpson, Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield, and Kelly Clarkson. During the early 2010s, the Carson, California native was deeply involved with the Glee franchise and continued to work with artists including Cheryl Cole and CeeLo Green. Brown was the first artist signed to Ne-Yo's Compound University label, and released some material through an association with major-label Columbia. In 2012, her "Same Ol' BS" appeared on the soundtrack for Think Like a Man, followed later that year with the Wale collaboration "Better Be Good," which gained some traction on Billboard's R&B Airplay chart. Columbia circulated a promotional EP and sampler, but Brown's planned debut album didn't materialize. She continued to work behind the scenes -- sometimes with Ne-Yo -- and eventually performed with the group Femmology. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
